Out-of-Date Technical Details for Joining
the Webcam Chrysalis Wisdom Council
Verify that Your Software Is Working Properly
Please download and install your software client (which is free), use the iVisit help desk to make sure it's all working, and let me know by email. Maybe we can do a brief "Hello" using iVisit sometime before the Wisdom Council, just to make sure everything's working out technically.
You will need a Webcam and a headset with a mike. Many new laptops come with a built-in camera, mike, and speakers, and while the built-in Webcam is fine, I recommend that you do not use the built in mike and speakers, but that you use a headset and mike.
With the built-in mike and speakers, everyone else in the
Wisdom Council will need to turn on Echo Suppression to be able to talk to you.
Unfortunately, the Echo Suppression in the software causes it to drop words.
That's too distracting for a Chrysalis Wisdom Council.
Note: Two people can join the Wisdom Council with one Webcam, but it is best if each one has their own headset. The second person can use iVisit from a second computer, so long as the same Webcam can see you both.
You're going to need to download and install the free

Verify that Your Software Is Working Properly
After you start up iVisit, do the following to verify that you system is hooked up correctly:
Step 1. In the Address Book dialog, click the Places button.
Step 2. In the text box, locate the Welcome/Help Desk room. Click this room. A solid blue line will appear at the top of the text box that is labeled "Join.".
Step 3. Click the bar that says, "Join." Then double-click the icon of the person in the Help Desk Room to see his or her video feed.
Step 4. To talk to the tech support person, locate the the Local AV window. The Local AV window shows what your Webcam sees. It should show your face. If you do not see a Local AV window, find the Tools menu on the main iVisit application. Click LocalAV on the Tools menu.
Step 5. Underneath your picture in the Local AV window is a large button that says Audio. To the LEFT of this word is an arrow. Click this arrow to display the Audio Control panel, consisting of a Talk button and sound level controls.
Step 6. Try talking to the Tech Support person by pushing the Control key on your keyboard or clicking the Talk button on the Audio Control panel.
Step 7. If this doesn't work out, click the message box at the bottom on the Chat dialog to select it. Then type a message to the tech support person in this message box. Your conversation will appear in the box above the message box.
NOTE: You may find that the software conflicts with something you're already using or that's already installed. If so, visit this page: http://ivisit.com/help/troubleshooting/video.html
Step 8. Repeat the process to join the NoeticCougar room. To find it, click the link that Cougar sends you or type "home.NoeticCougar.5683" in the Add Address Field at the bottom of the Address Book dialog. This is a small box at the bottom which has a blue plus sign in it. If iVisit asks you for a password to join the room, the password is "Noetic".
